Many thanks to Radiant Mobile for sponsoring this introductory post. Although I was offered an opportunity to try the service, I was unable to do so because my Samsung Note 9 was not compatible, and I chose not to risk changing the legacy plan on my current phone. Opinions are 100% my own.

I’m very thankful that I didn’t have to worry about my daughter having a cell phone until she went to college. During middle school, she was always armed with multiple quarters for the pay phone.

Back then, our biggest concern was whether she remembered to call home. Today’s parents are navigating an entirely different world—one filled with smartphones, social media, algorithms, screen time, and a constant stream of information that can be both helpful and harmful.

Have you ever imagined having a Christian wireless carrier? One where you decide what reaches your child’s phone at every age level? One where you, as a parent, can manage screen time, bedtime, or downtime?

Let me introduce you to Radiant Mobile, America’s first Christian wireless carrier.

So what’s different about a Christian wireless carrier?

So glad you asked. (I borrowed that line from my pastor.)

They start out with scripture:

Those who look to him are radiant and their faces shall never be ashamed. — Psalms 34:5

Unlike traditional wireless providers, Radiant Mobile isn’t simply focused on providing phone service. Their mission is built around one central idea: parents decide. Rather than leaving those decisions to algorithms, platforms, or default settings, Radiant Mobile believes parents should have the authority to determine what reaches their children’s devices.

Radiant Mobile offers nationwide 5G coverage with unlimited talk, text, and data, but what makes it different are the family-focused tools designed to help parents manage their children’s digital environment. Please note that unlimited data includes 10GB of premium data, followed by unlimited 3G.

Features Designed with Families in Mind

One of the standout features is Radiant Shield, which filters content at the network level rather than through an app that can simply be deleted or bypassed.

Parents can also:

  • Create age-based profiles for each child.
  • Schedule recurring “quiet times” during homework, bedtime, family meals, church services, or whenever it’s time to unplug.
  • Instantly pause internet access whenever needed through an on-demand blocked time feature.

Instead of assuming every family should parent the same way, Radiant Mobile provides the tools and allows parents to decide how—or if—they want to use them.

My Thoughts

As I learned more about Radiant Mobile, I found myself reflecting on my own parenting journey.

My goal wasn’t necessarily to shield my daughter from everything. As she grew older, I often chose to read the same books she was reading or watch the same movies she was watching. Those moments became opportunities for conversation.

We talked about choices.

We talked about consequences.

We talked about what the world celebrated versus what God teaches.

Every family is different, and every child matures at a different pace. Some parents may choose to use every tool available. Others may use only a few. What I appreciate about Radiant Mobile is that it isn’t trying to replace the parent—it simply provides tools that allow parents to put their own convictions into practice.

Looking at the Bigger Picture

Reading about Radiant Mobile also prompted me to think about technology more broadly.

Any technology powerful enough to filter information deserves thoughtful consideration. While tools like these can help families establish healthy digital boundaries, I also believe our ultimate goal is to prepare our children—not simply protect them.

Eventually they leave home.

They attend college.

They enter the workforce.

They encounter a world that doesn’t always operate according to biblical values.

That means alongside healthy boundaries, we also need ongoing conversations, biblical wisdom, and discernment so our children learn not only what to think, but how to think through what they encounter.

To me, those two things work together beautifully.

Healthy boundaries create space for meaningful discipleship.

Technology will continue to change. Twenty years ago it was pay phones. Today it’s smartphones. Tomorrow it will likely be something we haven’t even imagined yet. The tools may change, but the calling of parents remains the same: to lovingly guide, protect, prepare, and teach our children to walk in wisdom.

Whether Radiant Mobile becomes part of your family’s journey is a decision only you can make. What matters most is that we’re intentional about raising children who not only know how to use technology, but also know how to exercise biblical wisdom and discernment when they do.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

How does your family navigate technology and screen time? Are you more of a “protect first,” “prepare first,” or somewhere in between?
